Batt for spinning or felting

This batt is inspired by the collection of folk tales known as “One Thousand and One Nights” or “Arabian Nights” first published in Europe in the 18th century, but the tales can be traced back to the 9th century throughout Asia and North Africa. “Aladin’s Wonderful Lamp” “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves” and “Sinbad The Salior” are some of the most notable tales from the book. I’ve imagined the tales set among the beautiful cobalt blue and gold mosaic clad skyline of Iran and Iraq. I’ve made this batt with Merino, Corridale, Firestar, Angelina, Mint fiber, Norfolk Horn, Silk Waste, bamboo, Eider, Sari Silk and Faux Cashmere.

Some Ideas for your fibre:

  • Spin your yarn and knit a beautiful book cover for your favourite collection of tales.
  • Make a lovely book mark for yourself or as a gift.
  • Corespin your fibre with gold lurex auto wrapping around the yarn.
  • Weave a “mini magic carpet” to use as mug rug!
  • Felt or knit yourself some slippers.
  • Knit fairisle mosaic pattern with your new yarn.
  • Crochet geometric lace designs inspired by Islamic art.
  • Add sequins and gold beads to your yarn when you ply.
  • Felt a gorgeous nuno fabric to make into a jacket.
