Ashford Pick Up Sticks – 8 Sizes
A simple pick up stick opens up all sorts of extra pattern possibilities on a rigid heddle loom. Use it behind the heddle to lift selected warp threads, create a second shed and explore textured weaves, floats, lace effects and decorative designs.
Ashford’s pick up sticks are made from smooth, natural unfinished beech hardwood. Each one is 35mm wide and has a convenient hole so it can be secured when not in use.
Choose the right size
- 277mm (11in) – for the 10in SampleIt Loom
- 367mm (14in) – for the 12in Knitters Loom
- 415mm (16in) – for the 16in SampleIt Loom
- 440mm (17in) – for the 16in Rigid Heddle Loom
- 567mm (22in) – for the 20in Knitters Loom
- 640mm (25in) – for the 24in Rigid Heddle Loom
- 767mm (30in) – for the 28in Knitters Loom
- 840mm (33in) – for the 32in Rigid Heddle Loom

Why I like it
This is one of those wonderfully straightforward weaving tools that gives you lots of room to experiment. It is an inexpensive way to move beyond plain weave, and the smooth timber makes it pleasant and easy to use with your warp.
