There is something wonderfully direct about spinning from the point of a quill: no orifice to limit the yarn, just fibre, twist and the freedom to make anything from a fine thread to bold textured work. This beautifully turned Silver Beech and polished-steel attachment replaces the flyer and also makes a very useful hand-powered winder for weaving bobbins and paper quills.
