Ashford Warping Frames – 4.5m & 11m

Prepare neat, accurately measured warps with Ashford’s strong beech warping frames. The firmly positioned pegs help you maintain consistent tension and create a well-organised cross before transferring your warp to the loom.

There are two sizes to choose from. The compact 4.5m frame is ideal for samples, shorter projects and smaller workspaces, while the larger frame gives you the capacity to prepare full-length warps of up to 11m.

• Holds an 11m (37ft) warp with one cross
• Holds approximately 10.5m (34½ft) with two crosses
• Natural, unfinished beech hardwood
• Suitable for longer weaving projects
• Can be used flat on a table or fixed to a wall
• Supplied flat-packed for assembly

Why I like it

I like a warping frame because it is simple, reliable and easy to understand. There are no complicated moving parts: it gives you a clear view of the whole warp as you work, making it easier to notice crossed threads, uneven tension or counting mistakes before they reach the loom.

The small version is particularly appealing if you are short on space or mainly weave samples and shorter pieces. The large frame is the more versatile choice if you regularly make longer warps and have room to leave it assembled or mount it on a wall.
