DesignaKnit 9 HandKnit – Knitting Pattern Design Software

DesignaKnit 9 HandKnit is for hand knitters who want to design garments around their own yarn, measurements and ideas rather than being limited to a ready-made pattern.

I have used DesignaKnit for many years and still think of it as a knitter’s version of Photoshop: there is plenty to explore, but it gives you enormous creative freedom once you begin joining the different tools together.

You can start simply in Standard Garment Styling by choosing a garment type, entering your tension and measurements, and adjusting the fit and proportions. When you want more freedom, Original Pattern Drafting lets you reshape pieces, trace an existing garment or draw a completely original silhouette.

HandKnit includes:

• Standard Garment Styling for adaptable garment shapes and sizing
• Original Pattern Drafting for completely custom pieces
• Stitch Designer with hand-knitting symbols, cables and colourwork charts
• Interactive Knitting for row-by-row guidance while you work
• Graphics Studio for turning artwork, scans or photographs into stitch designs

This is a particularly lovely tool if you spin your own yarn, want to recreate a favourite well-fitting jumper, or have an idea that never quite appears in a commercial pattern.

Please note: DesignaKnit 9 is Windows software and does not run natively on macOS. This HandKnit edition does not include machine cable-link control; choose a machine-knitting edition if you want to connect DesignaKnit to a knitting machine.
