What the Whorl Does

On the Minstrel, the whorl is the little “drive pulley” that sits on the flyer shaft and controls how fast your flyer spins in relation to the wheel.

Changing the whorl lets you:

• Spin slower for thick, squishy or textured yarns

• Spin faster for finer yarns like 4-ply, sock and lace

• Match your spinning speed to different fibres and projects
