Silver Reed SK840 Standard Gauge Electronic Knitting Machine

The Silver Reed SK840 is the electronic standard-gauge machine for knitters who want the speed and precision of a 200-needle metal bed with much more freedom in pattern design. At 4.5 mm, it is designed for fine yarns such as fingering, 3-ply and 4-ply, with some fine DK also suitable depending on the yarn and tension.

Unlike the SK280, the SK840 does not use punch cards. For electronic pattern knitting you need DesignaKnit 9 and a SilverLink 5 interface, sold separately, which lets your Windows PC communicate with the machine.

If you want to create your own Fair Isle, tuck, slip, punch-lace, weaving or motif patterns without being limited by a punch-card repeat, this is the Silver Reed machine I would look at.
